Avion focuses on Full Flight Simulator design, manufacturing, and operation. Avion enables airlines to train at their home base, giving them complete control of the training schedule. This way, airlines can cut costs and CO2 emissions and have a well-rested flight crew. In other words: it benefits economic, environmental and social sustainability targets.
In early 2023, Avion entered into an agreement with an Indian Flight Training Company to supply eight Airbus A320 Full Flight Simulators. The new center is scheduled to open in July 2023, with two Avion A320 simulators being shipped to India and certified by the Indian civil aviation authority, DGCA. The remaining six simulators will be built and delivered in about eighteen months.
Avion is also ramping up its R&D activities by developing a Full Flight Simulator for the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, developing new functions like lesson plans, debrief tool and software updates for the Airbus A320 simulator. To support the enhanced R&D program, Avion will expand its team in the coming months.
About the job
Avion is looking for a Systems Architect to oversee the design, development and integration of simulator instrumentation and software systems for the Airbus A320 or Boeing 737 MAX Full Flight Simulators.
The Systems Architect defines all design resources needed to ensure the successful and timely release of new products and running projects. Leads the product development and oversees the product delivery process and design process of Avion’s Full Flight Simulator Products. • Works closely with the sales department on client bids to ensure that customer requirements are translated into a viable technical end product meeting industry and serviceable standards.
• Structures the overall system integration activities leading to testing, acceptance and qualification of new products.
• Provides 2nd line (ticket) support in case of software- and/or instrumentation issues and ensures that structural deficiencies are translated into renewed design principles.
• Identifying and mitigating potential technical, planning and budget risks.
Required skills and experience
• Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or related field.
• In-depth knowledge of full-cycle product development for either Airbus or Boeing aircraft simulation, preferably on Full Flight Simulator products.

• Ability to translate high-level functional requirements and technical specifications into working products.
• Strong experience in software development, with a focus on architecture and design.
• Working experience with Matlab Simulink, C++ and other programming languages.
Desirable skills and experience
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical design principles.
• Experience with designing and manufacturing electronics, including PCB design principles.
• Experience with CE, UL or equivalent product certification to comply with machinery directives.
• Deep understanding of the differences between certification standards (EASA, FAA, ICAO, etc.).
• A background in Systems Engineering is a plus.
• Thorough understanding of real-time simulation, distributed computing and multi-threading.
• Understanding of data structures in memory and network protocols such as UDP and TCP.
