Avion Group is a Dutch company focusing on Full Flight Simulator design, manufacturing, and operation. The simulators are qualified at the highest level. We have an EASA Approved Training Organization (ATO) and operate a Flight Training Center in London. This summer, we will open a new center in Athens, Greece. 
 
At Avion, we set up regional Flight Training Centers at our customer’s locations, designed to our customer’s specific needs and requirements. This substantially lowers flight crew training costs by avoiding hotel costs and daily allowances. It also reduces travel risks and improves the airline’s crew productivity. More importantly, we deliver an ultimate training experience that excites even the most seasoned pilots in the world.

About the job

The Lead Engineer is responsible for the mechanical & electrical engineering department and ensures the successful and timely release of new products and running projects. The Lead Engineer leads the product (electrical and mechanical) development and oversees the product delivery process (design, build, qualification) and design process of electrical and mechanical systems of Avion's Flight Simulator products. The Lead Engineer determines the need and recommends the services of external suppliers. The LE reports to the Director Technical Operations.

Key responsibilities & accountabilities

Product Development
Is responsible for designing, developing and integrating secondary (electrical and mechanical) systems in line with internal and industry standards and regulations. Leads the electrical and mechanical development teams (in- and external) and aligns with the Lead System Architect and Director Technical Operations to ensure the required end-product specifications are met. Oversees the development of improvements or deficiency solutions on mechanical and electrical systems.

Bid Management
Works closely with the sales department on client bids to ensure customer requirements are translated into a viable technical end product meeting industry and serviceable standards.

Planning & Manufacturing
Plans and budgets mechanical & electrical engineering projects, including procurement of electrical and mechanical products and systems. Aligns with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure a smooth transition from prototype to the production phase. Delivers BOM with all mechanical and electrical parts to our production supplier. 

Process Optimization
Defines plans to improve processes and implements these improvements in the team.

Service Management
Provides second-line (ticket) support in case of issues on electrical and mechanical systems and appliances and makes sure that structural deficiencies are translated into renewed design principles.

Leadership
Leads the Electrical and Mechanical department, including individual staff members' training, coordination and support. Sets (yearly) individual goals for team members. Coaches and guides staff to reach the intended results.

This job position is based at our office in Nieuw-Vennep, The Netherlands. Occasionally visiting customers abroad is part of the job.
